Letter of Intent Referral Program Terms & Conditions

The Letter of Intent Referral Program rewards readers who introduce new subscribers to our publication. Participation is subject to the following terms.

Eligibility

To be eligible to participate in the referral program, you must:

  • Have an active Letter of Intent or Capital Brief account.

  • Share your unique referral link with contacts.

  • Ensure those contacts subscribe using a genuine, verifiable email address.

Employees of Capital Brief and their immediate families are not eligible for rewards. Referrals must originate from personal or professional networks. Referral services or bulk mailing lists are not permitted.

Verification

We will moderate referrals to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. Only referrals from real individuals using valid, active email addresses will be accepted.

To be counted, referred contacts must:

  • Use a genuine personal or professional email address

  • Complete the sign-up process in full

  • Verify their email address if prompted (e.g. via confirmation email)

Referrals will not be counted if they appear to be generated through:

  • Fake or inactive email accounts,

  • Variations such as [email protected], +2, +3, etc.

  • Bulk sign-ups or suspicious traffic patterns

  • Any method that suggests manipulation of the system

We reserve the right to verify all referred email addresses and disqualify any entries that do not meet these standards.

Discretion

Capital Brief reserves the right to assess referrals on a case-by-case basis and make final decisions at its sole discretion. We may reject, revoke, or adjust referral counts or reward eligibility where we believe there has been misuse, unfair advantage, or activity not in the spirit of the program, or any other reason.

Reward Fulfilment

  • Some rewards may require further action from participants (e.g. confirmation of contact details).

  • Digital rewards will be provided via email.

  • Physical or location-based rewards will be coordinated directly with eligible participants.

  • Reward delivery timelines may vary based on verification and availability.

  • Rewards are not transferable or redeemable for cash unless otherwise stated.

Monthly Bar Tab Prize Draw

  • The promoter is Capital Brief Pty Ltd (ABN 34 664 662 024), located at Level 22, 6 O'Connell St, Sydney NSW 2000.

  • Promotion period starts 6:00am AEDT on 16 June 2025 and continues month-to-month until Capital Brief ends the promotion. Any changes or cancellation will be announced on our website.

  • Each calendar month, we’ll randomly select one winner to receive an AUD $200 bar tab at a venue in their nearest capital city (venue chosen at our discretion).

  • To enter, you must refer at least one new, verified subscriber within the month.

  • One verified referral = one entry per month. Multiple referrals in the same month do not result in multiple entries.

  • Entries reset each month. You must refer someone new each month to be eligible again.

  • Winners will be drawn at random and notified by email within two business days of the draw using the contact details associated with the Letter of Intent account.

  • If the winner cannot be contacted or doesn’t claim the prize within 14 days, we may redraw. Unclaimed prizes will be held for three months and redrawn if not distributed within that period.

  • By entering the promotion, you agree to Capital Brief collecting and using your personal information (name, email, and postal address) solely for the purpose of administering the promotion and delivering prizes. All data will be handled in line with Capital Brief’s Privacy Policy. Participants will not be added to mailing lists without consent and may opt out of communications at any time.

  • Open to Australian residents aged 18+. Promotion is not open to NT residents.

  • No purchase required. The bar tab is not redeemable for cash and is non-transferable. Additional venue terms may apply.

  • This is a game of chance and conducted in accordance with applicable Australian state and territory laws.

  • Capital Brief supports the responsible service and consumption of alcohol. Prizes involving alcohol will only be awarded to participants aged 18 and over. Proof of age may be required.

Letter of Intent Shoutout

  • All shoutouts are published at the discretion of Capital Brief. Publication isn’t guaranteed.

  • We reserve the right to edit, reject or delay submissions for any reason, including tone, style, legal considerations, or space constraints.

    • Submissions must not be defamatory, offensive, misleading or illegal. 

    • Promotional content is fine within reason, but this isn’t an ad slot. 

  • Shoutouts must be 75 words or fewer. No external links allowed.

  • Anonymity is allowed, but we may decline anonymous messages if they don’t meet our standards for tone or credibility.

  • One shoutout per eligible participant.

Letter of Intent Subscriber Number #1

  • This reward will be awarded once only.

  • It will go to the participant who either:

    1. reaches 200 valid referrals, or

    2. has the highest verified referral count at the time of awarding, as determined by Capital Brief.

  • The timing of the award is at our discretion.

  • If multiple participants qualify, a random draw will determine the recipient.

  • This reward is honorary, but may include additional surprise benefits at our discretion.

Amendments

Capital Brief may modify or update the referral program — including eligibility, rewards, or verification processes — at any time. Notice of significant changes will be communicated to participants where appropriate.

Final Authority

All decisions regarding referrals, eligibility, rewards, and interpretation of these terms are final.
